Help & FAQ

Answers about film developing, scanning, prints, online delivery and orders – all in one place.

Film developing

Information about processing color, black & white and other film types.

? Which types of film do you develop?

We develop most common still photography films, including:

  • C-41 color negative film (35mm, 120/220)
  • Black & white negative film (35mm, 120)
  • Disposable cameras (single-use cameras)

If you’re unsure about a specific film stock, add a note to your order or contact us and we’ll confirm.

? How long does film developing & scanning take?

Typical turnaround is XX–XX business days for standard orders, depending on volume and season.

  • Developing only: usually faster
  • Developing + scanning: may add extra time

We’ll email you as soon as your scans are ready or your order is ready for pickup/shipping.

Film scanning & resolution

Understanding scan sizes, file quality and recommended uses.

? Which film scanning resolution should I choose? Recommended

Think of resolution like a jigsaw puzzle: each pixel is one puzzle piece. More pixels = more pieces = more detail when you zoom in or print.

Standard: 1000 × 1500 px ≈ 1.5 MP

  • “Small puzzle” – great for online sharing, email and 4×6" prints.

High: 2075 × 3130 px ≈ 6.5 MP

  • “Medium puzzle” – good detail for prints up to about 8×10".

Premium: 4492 × 6774 px ≈ 30 MP

  • “Big puzzle” – maximum detail for large prints, cropping and archiving your best shots.

If you’re not sure, High is a great all-round choice. For favorite images or professional work, choose Premium.

? Do you correct colors and exposure when scanning?

Yes – each roll is scanned with basic color and density adjustments to give you a clean, natural starting point.

If you prefer a specific look (very neutral, contrasty, etc.), you can mention it in the order notes. For full custom color grading, additional services may apply.

Prints & enlargements

Sizes, paper options and which scans are best for printing.

? Which scan level should I choose for prints?
  • Standard scans – up to about 4×6" prints.
  • High scans – ideal for 5×7" and 8×10" prints.
  • Premium scans – best for large prints, posters and wall art.

If you plan to print big or crop heavily, Premium scans give you the most flexibility.

? Do I have to order prints now, or can I print later from the scans?

You can do both. You may order prints together with developing/scanning, or use your scan files later for printing – either with us or another lab/printer.

What is film scanning resolution?

When we scan your film, the image is turned into tiny dots called pixels.
The more pixels we capture, the more detail you get – especially when you zoom in or make prints.

Think of it like a jigsaw puzzle:

  • Each pixel = one puzzle piece

  • A small puzzle (few pieces) = looks fine from a distance, but not very detailed

  • A big puzzle (many pieces) = much more detail, good even when you look closely

We offer three scan sizes. The numbers below show how many pixels each file has and how that compares to puzzle pieces.

Standard Scan – 1000 × 1500 px (≈ 1.5 megapixels)

  • Pixel count (megapixels):
    1000 × 1500 = 1,500,000 pixels ≈ 1.5 MP

  • Puzzle comparison:
Like a smaller puzzle: fewer pieces, but quick to put together and easy to store.

  • Best for:

    • Social media, messaging, and email

    • Online galleries and previews

    • Small prints and proof prints (around 4×6")

This is perfect if you mainly want to view your photos on a screen and don’t plan to make larger prints.

High Scan – 2075 × 3130 px (≈ 6.5 megapixels)

  • Pixel count (megapixels):
    2075 × 3130 = 6,494,750 pixels ≈ 6.5 MP

  • Puzzle comparison:
Like a medium puzzle: many more pieces, noticeably more detail, looks good when you get closer.

  • Best for:

    • Good quality prints up to about 8×10"

    • Cropping a bit without losing too much quality

    • General family photos, travel, portraits

This is a great all-round choice: detailed enough for nice prints and still easy to share and store.

Premium Scan – 4492 × 6774 px (≈ 30 megapixels)

  • Pixel count (megapixels):
    4492 × 6774 = 30,428,808 pixels ≈ 30 MP

  • Puzzle comparison:
Like a very large puzzle: thousands of pieces, extremely detailed – you can see the tiny things in the image.

  • Best for:

    • Large prints, posters, and wall art

    • Professional work, exhibitions, fine art

    • Heavy cropping while keeping high quality

    • Archiving your best or most important images for the future

Choose this if you want the maximum detail your film can offer and plan to print big or use the image professionally.
